You already have a
Personal Brand. It is what
people think of when they
hear your name....
Over the last 2 years, we have established ourselves as a unique personal marketing agency, helping professionals, authors, celebrities and business owners develop and communicate their personal brand.
It was a privilege to be able to w0rk with some truly amazing individuals and organisations, and help them to achieve their objectives!
As we matured, we found ourselves taking on more corporate clients, and assisting with our dream of ‘humanising the enterprise’
Over recent months, seggr, a social brand agency based in Sydney, Australia has positioned itself to acquire buzzle…which is exciting for us. The capabilities and skills that buzzle has developed will be retained, but the business will be absorbed into the seggr group.
This is an opportunity we never thought we would have presented to us…but ironically, it came about as a result of a well networked personal brand, and a brand that had a clear vision and intent.
Over the coming weeks, there will be more announcements as the acquisition is finalised, and seggr takes shape. We will keep you all up to date on the developments as they unfold in these exciting times!
(Seggr works to increase the reach and response of selected brands by making them more connected, interactive, creative and sharing, and ultimately more influential)
2009 was an amazing year, and as it draws to a close, we look like ending the year on a real high!

To support the work we have been doing at buzzle, I personally had a ‘win’ that is attributed to my personal brand. In October this year, I attended a conference; The Future of Influence. This was a conference held between San Francisco and Sydney, organised by Ross Dawson…
With an opportunity to speak my mind, I took the floor and shared my views on what the ‘Agency of the Future’ might look like…unbeknownst to me, the MC for the day Randal Leeb-du Toit had similar visions and interest.
Later that day I received a direct message on twitter from Randal saying that he would like to catch up and discuss my views on the agency of the future…and we did.

Some of these developments will make for an interesting case study in managing your personal brand…for example; my twitter handle @lukefrombuzzle will need to change…what to?
Well, they have done it again.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported today that Apple has defied the GFC, and posted a 15% increase in profit this quarter!
Apple is one of the few brands that typically reports an increase in profits during a recession or general downturn, and before I understood personal branding, this used to baffle me…
Not any more.
Apple products just simply make people feel better – and people want an Apple product to lift their spirits!
For those who have suffered the misfortune of losing their jobs, or are feeling a little down about the current climate, going out and buying an ipod or an iphone (iphone sales have doubled in the last year!) is a small pleasure.
So, what about your personal brand – do people turn to you in a recession of tough times to seek comfort, reassurance ro to generally make them feel good?
This a good question to ask yourself, and maybe consider WHY people buy more Apple products during a downturn. Some things to consider about your Personal Brand and selling more during a downturn are;
1. Do you have credibility?
Do you have a track record of success, style, performance and ease of use? If so, GREAT, if not; start to consider this and make some changes to your personal brand!
2. Do you have style?
Have a look at the appearance of your business cards, your dress, your workspace, even your car. Is it representative of YOU. Apple is synonomous with the colours white and balck. Do you have a colour that best describes your personal brand?
3. Apple Keep it Simple
Is is simple to understand you product, your offering, and your website? Is it easy to find you on Google or online, and then learn more about your serivces without getting confused?
4. Do you have a ‘category killer’ like the iphone?
What product or service do you deliver that is simply marketed and delivered better than anyone else in the market? Apple entered a crowded market with the iphone, yet have still managed to secure a substantial market share through being clever, unique and persistently consistent.
5. Is there mystery and scarcity around your Personal Brand?
Apple is well know for being a ‘little more expensive’ than its competitors (this hasn’t stopped people from buying its products!). Steve Jobs has a degree of mystique, and is very difficult to get to for interviews or insights. Apple are famous for their secrecy around product lanches and announcements?
Will you be reporting a 15% increase in your profits this quarter?
Sarah Prout had a lightbulb moment!
“Following the Twitter frenzy Ashton Kutcher created on his quest to get to 1 million followers, I had a light-bulb moment. I’ve decided to try a crazy social media experiment but I’m going to need your help…”
What a great idea…but surely she did not think she would be taking this challenge on without competition…I mean if she is Oprah, she needs an Ashton to challenge her all the way!
So why would you follow me instead of Sarah Prout, Ashton Kutcher or Oprah Winfrey?
HOW YOU CAN HELP… one man/woman CAN make a difference!
At the following milestones, Buzzle will donate a gift to a charity or a cause chosen by you Tweeters out there!
We need all the help and we can get with this experiment!…it is time we proved that real people can be interesting too!
Now I have some catching up to day..Sarah is already at 10,000+ followers!
…Latest news is Sam Mutimer is also up for the challenge – this could become HUGE
(I am sure there will be plenty written about this little game, so stay tuned for updates)

Chris Cairns over at Smartlife is starting a series on Personal Branding Consultants, and over the next few weeks will be writing about this very subject- and sharing some experiences of clients of these people.
He started this series by recognising the “50 Personal Branding Consultants Worth Working With”
Chris was kind enough to write the following about Luke and our work at Buzzle.
Luke Harvey-Palmer (website, blog)
Luke goes a step beyond helping clients develop their personal brand. He helps them manage their brands with an eye to the long-term. He provides in-depth information about social media and its uses for personal branding.
We look forward to reading this series from Chris, and one of our clients will hopefully be included in Chris’ case studies..
